According to incomplete statistics of Global Semiconductor Watch, a total of 57 semiconductor enterprises have completed stage financing recently. These enterprises involve third-generation semiconductors, vehicle-level chips, millimeter wave radar chips, sensors and other fields. According to the disclosed amount, many enterprises have obtained more than 100 million yuan xilinx of financing.

The popularity of "three and a half generations" has not decreased
Semiconductor materials have developed from the first generation (silicon silicon) and the second generation (gallium arsenide GaAs and indium phosphide InP) to the third generation, mainly silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN). With its excellent physical characteristics such as high thermal conductivity, high breakdown field strength, high saturated electron drift rate, high bonding energy, etc., the third-generation semiconductor has rushed into the central circle of the global semiconductor market, and has now become the darling of the industry and capital.
The third generation of semiconductors has played a role in new energy vehicles, consumer electronics, semiconductor lighting, new generation mobile communications, new energy grid connection, smart grid, high-speed rail transit and other fields. Although the consumer end was not awesome last year, TrendForce Jibang Consulting previously estimated that the market size of automotive SiC power components would climb to 3.94 billion dollars in 2026 in terms of new energy vehicles.
From the perspective of market structure, the world's third-generation semiconductors are still dominated by American, Japanese and European enterprises, including Wolfspeed, ROHM, Infineon, Mitsubishi, Qorvo and ST and other enterprises. The major domestic enterprises include Tianke Heda, Shandong Tianyue, San'an Optoelectronics, China Electronics 13 and 55.
In recent years, with the outbreak of the epidemic, third-generation semiconductors have entered a critical period of development. With the strong support of the national "Fourteenth Five-Year Plan" policy and the promotion of the wave of localization, third-generation semiconductor enterprises that have been dormant for many years have begun to show their talents and become the new target of the market.
From the table, more than ten enterprises favored by investors are committed to the third-generation semiconductor fields such as silicon carbide and gallium nitride, including Tianyu Semiconductor, Tianke Heda, Superconductor Semiconductor, Zhixin Microelectronics, Xin Gan Technology, Painjie Semiconductor, Dry-crystal Semiconductor, Zenith Semiconductor, and Jingtong Semiconductor.
Among them, Tianke Heda completed the Pre-IPO round of financing, which was invested by star capital such as Jingming Hongrui Industrial Fund and Lijin Mingke Industrial Fund of Jingming Capital System; Tianyu Semiconductor obtained an investment of about 1.2 billion yuan, and the financing funds will continue to be used to increase the expansion of silicon carbide epitaxial production line and continue to increase the investment in research and development of silicon carbide epitaxial growth in large size.
In addition, domestic enterprises have made new progress in silicon carbide technology breakthroughs.
In January 2022, Shuoko crystal will realize small batch production of 8-inch N-type silicon carbide polishing sheet; In August of the same year, Jingsheng Electromechanical successfully produced the company's first 8-inch N-type silicon carbide crystal, and said in February 2023 that the 8-inch conductive silicon carbide substrate will achieve small batch production in the second quarter of 2023; In November 2022, Tianke Heda released the 8-inch conductive SiC single crystal substrate, and plans to realize the small-scale mass production of 8-inch substrate products in 2023.

Radar, sensor and other automotive chips are getting brighter
Since last year, the consumer terminal market has continued to decline, and the consumer chip has not been as good as before. The global chip shortage is slowly improving, while the automotive chip is showing another picture. The supply of chips in the global auto industry is insufficient, and the development of smart cars has made the demand for auto chips constantly increasing. Auto chips have become the new favorite of the market.
IPDiA
According to data, in 2022, the global auto industry reduced the production of 4.5 million new cars due to chip shortage. In 2023, the chip shortage will still affect the production of automobiles, and it is estimated that the production will be reduced by 3 million vehicles. Due to the strong demand, it is expected that auto chips will remain one of the few segments with serious shortage in the chip industry in 2023.
Automotive chips have a higher technical threshold than consumer-grade chips. They are not only rich in types, but also have strong industrial driving force. With the advancement of automobile electrification, networking and intelligence, automobile chips have been widely used in power system, body, cabin, chassis and safety.
In the field of automobile chips, this year, enterprises such as Sunrise Technology, Chart Microelectronics, Zhongke Yihai Microelectronics, Zhiguang Core Technology, Cuizhan Microelectronics, Sijie Microelectronics, Lingming Photonics, etc. have been funded, and their core positioning is in the chip of vehicle gauge, millimeter wave radar, sensor, radio frequency filter, etc.
From the perspective of chip category, the sensor can be applied to medium-high speed and low-speed automatic driving scenes in the car. The core of the car camera is CMOS image sensor (CIS). At present, Ansemy and Weir are in the leading position in the car CIS market.
The millimeter-wave radar chip is the core of the vehicle-mounted radar. Its main application direction is to be applied in the fields of automobile ADAS and automatic driving. In addition, it can also be applied in smart home, unmanned aerial vehicle control, etc. However, at present, foreign millimeter wave radar products still occupy a leading position, and its core technology is mainly concentrated in Bosch, mainland, Haila and other overseas giants. In order to realize the landing of new millimeter wave radar products, domestic enterprises such as Deserville, Huayu Automobile, Huawei, and Centric are constantly redoubling their efforts.
In the future, driven by the acceleration of the automobile industry, sensors, millimeter wave radar, radio frequency filters and other automotive related chips will also be brought into a new strategic circle, and domestic substitution will also bring many opportunities for domestic enterprises to break through.
